Yoga in Bayfront Park 

Bayfront Park has free yoga classes three times a week taught by a certified yoga professional. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the classes are from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. On Saturdays, the class is from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle! The free yoga classes are at the Tina Hills Pavilion located inside Bayfront Park.

Little Havana is a great place to experience some of the local cultures. Cuban people have opened restaurants, dessert shops, and art deco places for the past few decades to keep their culture and language alive. It’s an amazing and lively place to walk around to experience Cuban culture. 

If you feel like spending a little money, many of the sandwich shops and bakeries are very affordable. Almost all the treats are freshly made every day, so they are extra delicious! 

Some of the Latin American art galleries are also free to visit. Maximo Gomez Park is a great place to play dominoes with locals, or you can sit in the grass and have a picnic.

Miami has several free art galleries. Most of them are located in the Design District or throughout Wynwood. The Design District is home to the Institute of Contemporary Art and the famous De La Cruz selection. The district has beautiful sculptures and statues as well.

Explore Bayside Marketplace 

Bayside Marketplace is one of the best places to go in Miami. It’s right in the middle of downtown and it’s frequented by locals and tourists. It’s also right on the waterfront, so you can get some amazing photos of the tall palm trees and boats that are docked in the marina. 

You can easily spend a lot of time at Bayside Marketplace, so wear comfortable shoes for walking. The large mall is the perfect place to go shopping to get souvenirs for family and friends. 

The food and drink scene inside the marketplace is also incredible. They have daiquiri bars, homemade ice cream parlors, and all different kinds of food. Visit Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens used to be a private home and estate, but it’s now a huge museum full of history and architecture. The building was designed in Italian and French Renaissance traditional style and it’s absolutely breathtaking. 

It’s located in the Coconut Grove neighborhood, which is right on the water and surrounded by palm trees and orange trees. The gardens are always freshly manicured and intricately designed. You can walk through the exhibits and rooms yourself or take a guided tour. 

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is located at 3251 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL, 33129. They’re closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On all other days, they’re open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $18.

Dance at Story or LIV nightclubs

Listen to a Nighttime Jazz Performance 

Little Havana is known for having some of the best live jazz music in all of Miami. While jazz spots can be found all over the area, the best place is Ball & Chain. It has live music every night except Sunday. 

Entry into the club is free. Feel free to sit back and relax and enjoy the jazz vibes of Miami. The club also serves great beer and cocktails. If you arrive a little early, you can also order from the dinner menu.

Take a Food Tour 

With a sometimes overwhelming food scene in Miami, taking a nighttime food tour is a great way to explore some of the lesser-known food venues. Most tour options have at least five stops, and most of them are away from the typical tourist eateries. 

Try Cuban food, Colombian food, traditional southern American food, and many more other options. End the tour with dessert and coffee or an alcoholic beverage if you choose. Most tours start at 5:30 p.m. and last about 3 hours. Reservations are required!

Secret Food Tours of Miami is a highly recommended food tour in Miami. They will have different meeting points depending on the tour you choose. When you make your appointment, the guide will tell you the first restaurant meeting point. Tickets are $69 and include transport from place to place and all the food and drinks. Alcohol is a small upcharge. 

How to Get to Miami

Miami has a large international airport (MIA) that has daily flights from all major domestic and international airlines. Even though it’s large, it’s extremely easy to navigate and find your way to different terminals and ground transportation. If you’re driving into Florida to visit Miami, you will drive the Florida turnpike and I-75 S. 

How to Get Around Miami

The easiest way to get around Miami is to take Uber and Lyft. Parking in Miami, especially downtown, can be very difficult and expensive. 

Miami also has a pretty extensive bus service that can get you to most attractions and hotels. Keep in mind that Miami is a very large city. While it’s not unsafe, you should still be careful taking the buses at night, especially if you’re alone. 

If you want to take some day trips from Miami or plan to spend most of your time outside of where the public buses go, consider renting a car to get you places quicker. 

When to Visit Miami

Since it’s in the south of Florida, Miami is a popular beach destination in the summer. If you want to avoid the crowds and hot weather, try to avoid Miami from June through September. 

For the best weather, visit Miami from March through May. You can also visit in October and November for fantastic cool weather. The fall is also a great time to see art and music festivals like the Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival and the SEED Food & Wine Festival.

Luxury: The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove is a fantastic option that is very centrally located. It’s close to the metro station and the Dinner Key Marina. They have an amazing seafood restaurant right in the hotel, as well as a full-service bar, poolside cafe, fitness center, and hot tub. All rooms have marble bathrooms and private balconies. 

Miami Restaurants

NIU Kitchen is an amazing tapas restaurant with a huge Spanish wine list. Some of the small plates are a little unusual, but definitely worth trying. Order the xistorra sandwich, the foie gras, or the costelles (amazing pork ribs prepared with olive oil, peppercorn, and garlic.) 

Sanguich de Miami is a laid-back gourmet Cuban sandwich restaurant. Try the authentic Cubano or get the pan con bistec for something different. They also serve traditional Cuban coffee and amazing handcrafted milkshakes.
